TRIDENT Management first became interested in vessel security after after a 1995 boat delivery was subject to a pirate stand off. While avoiding the winds in the Gulf of Tehuantepec the delivery was cruising close to shore headed for the Panama Canal, When an unmarked and lone fishing boat with four men, feigned engine trouble, captain fred approached the vessel to offer assistance, their boat suddenly started up and began to approach at full throttle. Captain Fred was able to identify that the unmarked boat was crewed by masked men ( armed.) Familiar with the tactics of sea pirates, and with knowledge and previous experience. Captain Fred calmly, exited the wheel house "with my black rifle" and held the gun above his head to show he was armed. the small crew boat slowed turned away, leaving the delivery to go on as planned.
Its no surprise that Piracy and armed robbery is a huge problem in international waters, and causes a massive threat to the world of shipping. Its common for pirates to operate multiple high speed skiffs to approach and fire on the bridges of vessels with automatic weapons. once a vessel is hijacked, the pirates generally request a large ransom payment for a safe return of crew, vessel, and cargo. While a solution to the pirate problem is a monumental task what we do here at TRIDENT Management is aid in the defense against these attacks. as a company we have the resources, equipment and know how when it comes to bullet proofing material and construction. We've developed a proprietary design of existing nato certified ballistics material that when constructed can stop the penetration of 8 762 x 39 (AK 47) shots in a 12 x 12 area of our material. Adding ballistics material to an existing vessel is one of the ways we can offer passive defense against the piracy problem, Along with other active and passive measures.
